We may feed them, walk them and pay their vet bills, but our pets are quietly returning the favour.

New research¹ from award-winning² pet insurance provider Insure Your Paws finds that pets look after their owners in ways that go far beyond companionship, easing loneliness, bringing structure to daily life and improving overall wellbeing. 

Nearly half (48%) of UK pet owners say their pet helps them feel less lonely, while 49% say having a pet adds structure and routine to their day. Four in ten (40%) also say their overall wellbeing has improved since becoming a pet owner. 

The research, conducted by Opinium among 1,000 UK cat and dog owners, also found that more than one in five (22%) say caring for their pet encourages them to look after themselves better.
