Whether you’re dealing with the unexpected, after quick answers about a concern with your pet, or simply in need of support or reassurance, our Assist Your Paws careline is available for all Insure Your Paws customers, 24/7.

Perhaps it's late in the evening and you've just noticed your cat or dog is limping, behaving slightly differently, or maybe they've eaten something they shouldn't have, and you start to worry.

Rather than questioning whether you need to rush to an out-of-hours emergency vet, that's where a call to our Vet Nurses could really help. Available to all Insure Your Paws customers, anytime, they can help you assess the situation, and suggest what action could be taken, and even let you know where the nearest emergency vet service is.

What is the Assist Your Paws careline

Assist Your Paws is our 24/7 careline, with Registered Vet Nurses on hand day or night to support, advise and comfort Insure Your Paws customers with their concerns, queries and pet-related worries.

Examples of situations a call to the careline could help with:

  • New pet parents with queries around what to feed, how often to feed, how often to exercise or how to toilet train their new puppy or kitten.
  • On noticing behaviour that’s out of the ordinary for your cat or dog, for advice on how to monitor it and whether it requires a vet appointment.
  • If your pet has eaten something that they shouldn’t have, and advice on what to do next, or information on emergency vets nearby, should the situation require it.
  • On noticing a physical difference in your pet, e.g. a sudden limp, for suggestions on whether to see a vet urgently or not.
  • For bereavement support, if you need a kind voice and a listening ear on the other end of the line, if you have recently lost a pet.
  • Seasonal pet care tips and queries, e.g. calming fireworks anxiety or managing springtime allergies.

How is the Assist Your Paws careline of benefit to me

As pet owners ourselves, we know that life with a furry friend can have its ups and downs, and that our cats and dogs can get themselves into some sticky situations. Knowing there’s a number you can call with questions or concerns and receive the advice or referral you’re after, can be reassuring.

Speaking to a Registered Vet Nurse can help you make the right decision for your pet, faster, with professional advice that can point you in the right direction of where or whether to get help.

How to best use the Assist Your Paws careline

To get the most out of the careline, and to get the best advice possible from our Registered Vet Nurses, it’s good to give clear information about your pet and your concern.

To do so: let us know your pet’s breed, age, weight and whether they have known allergies or conditions they’re being treated for. It could also be useful to give any situational information in terms of what they may have eaten recently, or any new places they’ve been recently, if of relevance.

The more specific you can be about your pet’s condition, your concern with their behaviour or the symptoms they’re showing, the better they can assess the situation, and direct you in the right direction.

How to contact the Assist Your Paws careline

With Assist Your Paws, there’s no need to book an appointment or download an app, as is required by some other vet carelines. Instead, our service is a phone number, available to call 24/7. If during your call with the vet nurse, they need to see your pet to better assess them, then they can send you a video link to do so as well.

All Insure Your Paws customers have access to the Assist Your Paws careline, with no limits on usage. You can find more information about the careline here, and find the phone number, in your policy document.
